In 1962, Walt Disney discussed the idea of creating an attraction for "all of the Disney characters, so everyone can see themā¦I have in mind a theater, and the figures will not only put on the show but be sitting in the boxes with the visitors, heckling. I don't know just when I'll do that." Nearly a decade later, Waltās concept became a reality when the Mickey Mouse Revue premiered as an opening day attraction in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort on October 1, 1971. The attraction was retired in 2009, and the historic conductor Mickey Mouse Audio-AnimatronicsĀ® figure was preserved by the Walt Disney Archives.
